Project Geaux Bags™

Handcrafted for the first hours after a child is removed from their home.

The First 24 Hours

When a child is removed from their home, the first 24 hours matter most. They often arrive at a foster home, a placement, or a safe space with nothing. No pajamas to sleep in. No toothbrush. No familiar comfort to hold.

Geaux Bags™ is the answer to that moment.

Each one is handcrafted, packed by community volunteers, and delivered to the law enforcement officers, child welfare workers, and partner agencies who meet children in crisis. The bag is ready before the call comes. So when a child needs one, it is already there.

What's in a Geaux Bag

Every bag is built around the same idea: a child should have what they need to make it through the first night. Practical things. Comforting things. Things that say someone was thinking of you.

Inside every Geaux Bag:
● Pajamas
● Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush, soap)
● Underwear
● A blanket and pillow
● A backpack
● Water and a snack
● A comfort item (a teddy bear or similar)
● A note of encouragement

That last one matters more than it sounds. Some kids hold onto the note longer than anything else in the bag.

From Pack to Placement

Every bag follows the same path:

  1. Donated. Every item inside is funded by a donor or contributed in-kind by the community.

  2. Packed. Volunteers assemble each bag by hand, by size, with care taken on every detail.

  3. Stored. Bags are kept on-site at the Geaux 4 Kids facility, ready before the call comes.

  4. Delivered. Bags are distributed to partner agencies, who place them directly into the hands of the children who need them. Partners include the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, the Louisiana State Police, and parish and city law enforcement agencies across Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

Project Geaux Bags is proudly funded through the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement.
