About Geaux 4 Kids
Founder K.C. Kilpatrick began the organization as an independent, grassroots effort after becoming a foster parent in 2013, and discovering how stressful the initial 24Â to 48 hours of receiving children into foster care were and how impossible it was to adequately prepare. She began purchasing supplies at her own expense and distributing supplies to the smallest victims of crime out of the trunk of her car.
An Idea Was Sparked out of Pure Necessity
Registration as a non-profit
The organization was formalized in 2015. Geaux 4 Kids, Inc. was registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The flagship program called Geaux Bags™ was approved as a registered trademark.
The First 5 Years
Geaux 4 Kids operated for the first five years solely on volunteers and donations, mostly in the form of in-kind materials and supplies.
First Executive Position
Geaux 4 Kids created its first paid Executive Director position to coordinate projects, donations, volunteers, board activities and advocacy work.
Officially Launches Statewide
Geaux Bags expanded to Texas and Arkansas
